*I was provided with a eARC of this book by the publisher via NetGalley, but my review is all my own opinion and thoughts*
Let me begin with saying that I didn’t really liked this book. I listened to the audiobook for this since it had already come out since I received an eARC for it. I was really excited to get to this book and I was really excited to get to this once I received the eARC, but my reading slump made it hard for me to read. So when I saw that I could listen to it, I was really excited. Going into this, I knew that it was a diverse cast of characters and science fiction.
+ I liked the fact that the author was trying to make this book diverse.
– But it didn’t feel natural. To me it felt like it was checking off of the diverse characters people were asking for and it was being in your face about the diversity. Don’t get me wrong, I love reading diverse books, but to me it fails at making it good. As good as The Upside of Unrequited as at it, in my opinion, as failed is the attempted in this book.
– There was a lot of romance in it. I am someone who isn’t really too keen on a lot of romance in a book I read, it is personal preference. The romance has to be really good for me to like it.
+ I loved the world which was created. I am trying to get more into science fiction and I liked the way the world was in this book. The way the aliens were used and how the humans were actually the aliens to the aliens because they started living on their planet.
– Because I was so interested in the world which was created, I missed the description of the world. I missed more explanation on the world building.
So overall I wasn’t really a fan of the execution of the diverse characters and the romance, those two felt very into my face the whole time, in my opinion. I enjoyed the science fiction part of this book, I enjoyed it so much that I wanted more in the world building and just more facts over the planet they were living on.
So have you read 27 Hours? What was your opinion on it?
